LASERGRAFFITI
Intervention, performance in public space, 2007

In early 2007, the New York City based Graffiti Research Lab (GRL) presented “L.A.S.E.R. Tag”: a 20 story building of nearly 40x50 meters surface is tagged only with a laserpointer, a strong videoprojector and a piece of software. A couple of months later, Florian Hufsky and Michael Zeltner spent five days rewriting the GRL software completely to bring Laser Tagging/Graffiti to
Austria. For one night, the MUMOK shines with scribblings, tags and statements of Museums Quartiers visitors and established Viennese streetartists. Lasertagging is temporary interaction with the city unlike traditional streetart or ‘smearings’, as they’re known to city councils all over the world - the icons and texts animate otherwise blank walls for just a few seconds, and are replaced with culturally loaded content just as fast.
